If you are a ring fiend who wears multiple rings on both hands, you need to be sure to make your hands presentable. Take the time to trim and buff them, or simply get regular manicures, so that your jewelry is complimented by nice and taken care of hands.

Knowing what type of jewel you are buying when you purchase jewelry is very important. There are three unique types of stones: imitation, synthetic and natural. Imitation gems are made out of glass or plastic; natural and synthetic gems both consist of real gemstone. A natural stone is mined from the earth, and a synthetic is a lab-created gem.

It is hard to tell the difference between natural and fake rubies and sapphires. Natural and artificial rubies and sapphires are chemically identical to their natural counterparts, but artificial stones are worth far less. A jeweler can fraudulently claim a sapphire is natural, but you won't know for sure unless you have it examined by a gemologist.

Decide exactly what role you want your jewelry to play when you are coordinating it with your clothes. Do you want your jewelry to be the centerpiece or just an embellishment for a fantastic overall ensemble?

You can make money from any gold bracelets and necklaces you have, without having to sell your entire pieces. Just cut off any excess. If you have enough of these pieces, you can clip off so little that people won't even notice the difference. If what you have truly is real god then with just a few chains the potential to make money is there. You can actually make around a few hundred when you shorten these type of pieces.

When shopping for a choker, the standard length is sixteen inches. For a perfect fit, you should measure your own neck and subtract an inch. This will give you a perfect fit.

When you accessorize simple clothes, mix in large, ornate jewelry. This type of jewelry is best complemented by solid clothing, including the basic "little black dress."

If you are wanting to collect costume jewelry, you should ensure you are aware of its condition. A piece that isn't in very good condition won't be worth it, and since you may be thinking of an expensive item as an investment, it's important to watch for wear and tear. Investing in quality means that you can enjoy the jewelry for many years to come.

It can be hard to properly display the jewelry that you have made to sell at holiday sales, craft sales and flea markets. When on the look out for material involved in the creation of your piece, don't forget about creative displays. Look for baskets, racks and boxes. Use other original objects to display your creations.

You should sometimes put lemon juice on your copper jewelry. Eventually, copper tarnishes. Some people like the aged look of tarnish copper, but if you aren't one of them, lemon juice and vinegar quickly remove tarnish.
