If you are looking forward to get a diamond engagement ring then first you need to learn more about the diamond by itself. Below are the four categories to think about while looking for that ideal diamond.

Cut - Like its name this term determines how the diamond was cut, finished and polished. Within the market you'll find princess cut diamond, round cut diamond, oval cut diamond, radiant cut diamond, pear cut diamond, heart cut diamond, emerald cut diamond, asscher cut diamond, marquise cut diamond and cushion cut diamond.

Clarity - This term decides if the diamond has any internal flaws and impurities like crystals of other elements. Based on the purity of the diamond various grade are assigned to each diamond. For example "F" represents the flawless diamond and "I" represents diamond that has some inclusions.

Color - Diamond comes in different color. But remember diamonds within their natural form are colorless, anytime some impurities get mixed up during their formation, they get new colours. Within the market yellow diamonds are the rarest of all and are much expensive than colorless diamonds.

Carat - This term determines the mass of a diamond. One carat is equals to 20 grams. The more carats, the pricier a diamond will get. When you have a limited budget then you can go for diamonds less than one carat.

Since all the terms begins with letter C, these terms are also called "4 C's" in the market.

Even though diamond is an important and costly component of your stunning engagement ring, it doesn't always mean that it is the sole component you need to think about. Band and setting of the ring is similarly important.

Band of the ring is the circular part that sits across the finger. Normally it's made out of either silver or white gold or yellow gold or platinum. In some instances alloys of two metals may also be used. Silver are the least expensive but white gold can be a good option for silver because silver does not meet the characteristics for a ideal wedding ring. Platinum around the other hand is the most costly and are known to be strong, durable and simultaneously stunning.

Setting of the ring is the piece that holds the diamond in position and is connected to the band. It's this piece that's responsible for the general safety of one's ring. Since platinum is strong, it's frequently used as the setting. However the ring with a platinum setting can be costly so a bezel setting could be a great option.
